Talent & Entertainment Law

Business counsel for musicians, actors, on-screen talent, and digital content creators

A creative career is also a business. Behind every tour, series, film role and brand partnership are contracts, money and rights that deserve careful attention. I work with musicians, bands, actors, television and film personalities and other creative professionals on the business and legal side of their careers, so that they can concentrate on their creative work.

I also advise digital content creators and online media professionals whose audiences span video, streaming, social media, and podcast platforms, and whose online work now requires the same contractual and business discipline as any other enterprise.

I don't replace your manager or agent. I work alongside them, reading the fine print, negotiating terms and helping you understand what you're agreeing to before you sign.

What I Help With

  • Project contracts. Reviewing and negotiating agreements for film, television and music work, so the scope, pay, credit and timing are clear.

  • Brand deals and sponsorships. Paid partnership terms, usage rights, exclusivity, payment timing and the FTC disclosure rules for sponsored posts.

  • Management, agency and network agreements. Commissions, contract length, exclusivity, who owns or controls your channel and content, and how you can end the relationship if it stops working.

  • Band and partnership agreements. Putting in writing who owns the name, how money is split, how decisions get made and what happens when a member leaves.

  • Business entities and loan-out companies. Setting up the right structure for your work and keeping its records and formalities in order.

  • Your name, likeness and brand. Protecting and licensing how your name, image, stage name, logo and channel name are used.

  • Licensing and distribution. Agreements that let others use your music, footage or brand, on terms you understand and approve.

  • Copyright and trademark. Protecting your original work and registering the names and marks that identify you.

  • Appearance, hosting and event agreements. Riders, cancellation terms, travel and payment.

  • Confidentiality agreements. Protecting your privacy with crews, staff, partners and collaborators.

  • Ongoing counsel. A lawyer who knows your business and is there as new offers and opportunities come in.

Why a Business Lawyer

Most of the legal work in a creative career is business work: contracts, entities, ownership and money. I've spent three decades advising companies and their owners on exactly those issues, and I bring that same practical, business-first approach to artists, on-screen talent and creators.

Discretion

Many people in this field value their privacy. I keep client relationships confidential, and I don't publicize who I work with.

Based in the Philadelphia Area

My office is in Plymouth Meeting, and I work with talent and creators throughout the Philadelphia area, Montgomery County and the surrounding counties. I'm licensed in Pennsylvania and New York.
